RECEIVING THE UNCTION TO FUNCTION
"But ye have an Unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things." 1 John 2:20 (KJV)
BIBLE READING: JOHN 14:26, 16:13; 1 CORINTHIANS 2:10-16; ACTS 1:8, 10:38
Every Christian believer needs the Unction of the Holy Spirit to function not just in the Spiritual Aspect of his life but in every area that concerns us. The Unction by definition actually refers to the Anointing, and as we can see in the above verse, the Primary Purpose of this Unction is Knowledge of the Holy One. Most Christians erroneously immediately think of Miracles, Signs and Wonders once the word 'Anointing' is mentioned but Christ Jesus, when He was giving us the Promise of the Holy Spirit according to John 14:26 and 16:13, specifically told us that the Primary Assignment of the Holy Spirit is to impart to us God's Knowledge and Truth before Miraculous Works. Think about this: How can we showcase to the world through Signs and Wonders a God that we have not known deeply and intimately?
The Holy Scriptures also tell us that after the Lord Jesus was anointed, He "went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him" (Acts 10:38). Every Aspect of His Life was fueled by the Unction. Let us look at just a few of the numerous benefits of the Unction in a Christian believer's life:
(1.) The Unction reveals the Person of God to a believer.
(2.) The Unction gives us Access to Deep Truths, Insight and Knowledge that is not available to the natural man.
(3.) The Unction enables us to operate the Deep Wisdom of God and bring solutions where the rest of the world is stranded.
(4.) The Unction distinguishes us and gives us Abilities to excel Supernaturally in natural everyday endeavours.
(5.) The Unction enables us to discern men and spirits.
The Benefits of the Unction are inexhaustible, but as we walk with the Holy Spirit, He manifests these Numerous Benefits in us in ways that cannot be fathomed. How do we activate and maintain the Unction regularly?
(i.) Through Prayer and Fasting.
(ii.) Through the Quickened Word of God via personal and corporate Bible Study habits.
(iii.) Through Corporate Christian Fellowships.
(iv.) Through Ministry: The Secondary Purpose of the Unction of God is to go and showcase Him to the world through Soul winning, Signs and Wonders (Acts 1:8,10:38; Lk. 4:18).
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we magnify You for Your Mercy and Grace. O Lord, we open up our hearts to receive the Unction to function effectively in every area of our lives and Ministry in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
