THE DISCIPLE CAN NEVER BE ABOVE HIS MASTER
"The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord..." Matthew 10:24-25a (KJV)

The Discipleship Process is the designated procedure by which the "discipler" (the master) transfers his Virtues, Knowledge, and Character to his disciple. Becoming like the master is the goal of every disciple. This relationship is very important because it is through it that the foundation of all that the disciple will ever become is laid. Simply put, a Genuine Disciple of Jesus Christ must consciously position himself to absorb and reflect everything that the Lord Himself is. The Master must be seen through His Disciples and not obscured by the latter.
This is one major reason why a disciple can never be above his master: Without the master there can be no disciple in the first place. Just like there can be no house without a foundation and there can be no child without a father, there can never be a disciple without a master. A disciple is not above his master but if he lives to his full potential, he can become like his master. It is basically like a child becoming like his own parents at maturity when he has his own children. This is so because the Discipleship Process is a continuum with several parties playing their own individual roles.
Now, a disciple might achieve more things than his master but that does not make him to be above his master. Just like a child could end up being a better parent than his own parents but that can never change the positioning of the parent-child relationship between him and his own parents. Never forget that overtaking may be allowed but certainly not overthrowing. As disciples we must maintain an Attitude of Submission and Honour towards our masters, whether our Earthly masters or our Ultimate Heavenly Master. No matter what we think we may have achieved, we must shun pride but rather focus on becoming like our master.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we glorify Your Holy Name. O Lord, we come before You with Humility submitting to Your Lordship over our lives. We come against every spirit of rebellion that causes us to disregard Your Headship over our lives and the Authority of the human masters you have placed over us in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
