THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF THE LORD: THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD
“There shall come forth a Rod from the Stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of His Roots. THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding,"Isaiah 11:1-2(NKJV)
BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 11:1-16; REVELATION 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; DANIEL 5:10-14
The Seven Spirits of God are not merely Seven Separate Entities but instead refer to the Seven Diverse Expressions of the Holy Spirit's Multifaceted Nature. The prophet Isaiah under the Influence of the Holy Ghost alluded to this prophetically in Isaiah 11:2, envisioning the Lord Jesus embodying the Fullness of the Spirit, thereby encompassing these Manifestations. These represent a Continuous Outpouring of God's Very Life and Power within Christian believers as expressed in the Seventh Chapter and thirty-seventh to thirty-ninth verses of the Gospel according to John the beloved. Today, we will examine the First Manifestation, further depicted in the First verse of the Sixty-first Chapter of the Book of Prophet Isaiah: *The Spirit of the Lord.
The Spirit of the Lord, as the Third Person in the Trinity, is the Embodiment of God's Authority, Life, and Sovereignty. He empowers all Christian believers to lead Supernaturally Empowered lives, manifesting God's Authority and Life in their actions. We witness this Authority in action through the Life of the Lord Jesus in the Fourth Chapter of the Gospel according to Luke, where He declared the Fulfilment of Isaiah's Prophecy, displaying the Spirit's Power to preach, heal and deliver the oppressed (vs 18-19). This Same Empowering Spirit is poured out on the Church, enabling every Christian believer to walk in His Fullness and impact their world for the Glory of God. Moreover, the Spirit of the Lord equips Christian believers to confront societal injustices and advocate for Righteousness, mirroring the Example of Jesus *(Heb. 1:8-9). The same way Jesus confronted oppression and brought Liberation, all believers are empowered to stand against injustice, uplift the marginalized, and foster Societal Transformation. Furthermore, in the midst of personal trials and tribulations, the Spirit of the Lord provides Strength and Guidance. Whether facing illness, financial hardship, or relational challenges, Christian believers can rely on His Empowering Presence to navigate through life's storms as evidenced in the lives of countless believers throughout recorded history.
The prophet Micah, a contemporary of the prophet Isaiah, reminds us thus in the Holy Bible: *"He has shown you, O man, what is Good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love Mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"(Mic. 6:8). Beyond our initial Baptism into Christ's Body, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit marks the Starting Point of experiencing the Power and Authority of God's Kingdom. Through this Baptism, God shares with us His Divine Nature, filling us with His Spirit and enabling us to live fully in His Presence, according to His Assurance in Acts 1:8: *"But you shall receive Power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the Earth."* Let us embrace the Spirit of the Lord within us, allowing His Life and Power to flow through us, impacting the world around us for His Glory.
