BIBLE READING:
1 SAMUEL 25; GENESIS 41:33-40; 2 SAMUEL 17:1-14
One of the greatest ambitions of the average human being is to meet those bare necessities of life on a regular basis. These necessities include but are not limited to food, shelter, clothing, and security. Having established this fact, it is obvious to all who are discerning enough that one of the most crucial needs of every individual and every community is adequate security. If this were not the case, then there would be absolutely no rationale behind essentially any nation on Earth having armed forces and paramilitary units entrusted with the duty of safeguarding their citizens and territory. However, one of the most effective forms of security is Wisdom, which is by far superior even to the most sophisticated military outfits on Earth. This is one Major Reason the Holy Bible tells us that Wisdom "is better than weapons of war" (Ecc. 9:18a NKJV).
After a lot of thorough observation and diligent research, it is abundantly clear that there are Five Major Dimensions of Security, which are listed as follows in order of importance and priority:
The Lord God Almighty Himself: There is no security under the Sun which exists that is as high as the Most High Himself (Ps. 127:1). This is the key reason Genuine Christian believers never turn to God as a last resort but instead as their First and Only Resort (Prov. 3:5-6).
Wisdom: This is also referred to as Common sense, which is safer than any other means of security apart from God Almighty Himself (2Sam. 20:15-22). According to the wise words of a notable minister of the Gospel, "God gave us brains so that we would give Him rest."
Reliable Neighbours: The surest guarantee to having good neighbours is to pile up enough Good Will in your Emotional Bank Account with people (Ecc. 9:15-18). Having a positive rapport and cordial relationship with your neighbours may just be the difference between life and death (Jdg. 18:7-10, 27-28).
Security Gadgets: These are those fundamental security paraphernalia or apparatuses which include burglary proof bars, mace, pepper spray, alarm systems e.t.c., as well as different types of weapons such as firearms and ammunition (Neh. 4:15-17)
Security Personnel: This speaks about various armed security personnel such as the military, police, paramilitary forces, vigilante groups, etc. The mere presence of these personnel has a psychological way of making potential perpetrators of insecurity think twice before attacking anyone (2Kgs. 11:8-11).
In view of what we have seen above, there is a serious need to fully utilize Wisdom as a Practical Form of Security or Defence, especially that Divine Wisdom, which proceeds from the Lord God Almighty Himself (Jer. 9:23-24). We as Christian believers must remain ever mindful of the Truth that the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is both "the Power of God and the Wisdom of God" 1Cor. 1:24b NKJV).
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we glorify You for Who You are and for what You do. O Lord, please help us comprehend how to effectively fortify ourselves with Your Divine Wisdom in the midst of insecurity in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
